Thought I'd start up a general FF thread seeing as the 2010 season is upon our doorstep. List rosters, trade advice or just talk smack and boast about how great your FF prowess really is

.
Here's my starting roster in a 10 team Yahoo Pick Em league:QB- Tom Brady
RB- Chris Johnson
RB- Matt Forte
WR- DeSean Jackson
WR- Mike Syms Walker
WR- Donald Driver
W/R- Ahmad Bradshaw
TE- Dustin Keller
K- Lawrence Tynes
DEF- Philadelphia Eagles
BENCH:Joe Flacco
Chris Cooley
Jacoby Jones
CJ Spiller
Anthony Gonzales
I'm eyeing Mike Williams, the troubled first round pick of the Bucs for a bench player..fantasy pundits seem to like him, but attitude is a concern and so is Tampa's QB situation..wondering if its worth picking him up and dropping either Jones or Gonzales from the bench.

Not really a clue what I'm doing with the football thing, but I'm figuring it out. Anyone have any advise for me. I've got 2 baseball teams both with a chance to win their leagues.
This is my team (ESPN h2h pts)
QB Tony Romo
RB Ryan Grant
RB Cedric Benson
RB/WR Arian Foster
WR Andre Johnson
WR Chad Ochocinco
TE Jermichael Finley
D/ST Cardinals D/ST
K Garrett Hartley
BENCH
Bench Mike Sims-Walker
Bench Vincent Jackson
Bench Mike Wallace
Bench David Garrard
Bench Brandon Jackson
Bench Darren Sproles
Bench Tim Hightower
I didn't take a D till the last pick, so I just streamed in the Cards because of the week one matchup. I can trade for the saints D but it will cost me a wideout and I don't know if I want to do that.

Which WR will it cost you, Shawn? As defending champs, each team is bringing it hard to the Saints this year....that D will be pressured a lot. Not sure I rank them as highly as some people have them.
I never put a lot of stock in D and K. Always my last two picks of the draft, and usually go week to week with both...all depending on matchup. I picked up Arizona for week 1 vs Sammy Bradford and the Rams too.
One of the leagues i'm in has 3
STARTING QB for EACH week, and the stats are heavily weighted towards QB's with bonuses that are very easily attained. 10 teams...that's 30 starting QB/week. The NFL only starts 31! 8th pick in the draft, and needless to say I went QB with 5 of my first 6 picks
Aaron Rodgers
Matt Schaub
Kevin Kolb
Matt Ryan
Alex Smith
I grabbed Dennis Dixon off waivers too. Thinking about starting Rodgers, Schaub, and Ryan week 1. My opponent has Derek Anderson, Charlie Batch, and Vick!

A lot of people drafted like morons, so now I have people making ridiculously absurd offers for my QB's. Colston for Schaub straight up? HA!
Rest of the lineup: Crabtree, Dez Bryant, Mike Wallace, LeSean McCoy, Zach Miller, Bush, Moreno, Forsett, F. Jones, Hightower, Hoosh. Doesn't really matter too much who I throw in each week, as long as my QB's put up decent numbers this one should easy.

Have you thought about Mike Thomas instead? From JAX? I knwo you have Sims-Walker, so you can't really start Thomas too, but if anything happened to Sims-Walker, you have your insurance in your pocket right there. Heard only good things about him in training camp...

Cool, thanks for the info!

Sims-Walker is who he wants. Also not sure if I should be starting Benson against the pats or go with Hightower against the rams. Pats are 7th against the run rams are 32nd, but I used a good pick on Benson. Not sure there.

I'd hold on to Walker. Probably has more upside the the Saints D...is it a PPR league?
I hate playing people vs the Pats, so I always go for the other option if there. Hightower has a juicy matchup vs STL, but he will be splitting carries with Wells. I'd still go Hightower though...

Thanks Eric. I always like to play the matchups. Benson will get his time....and the pats are pretty good on defending the run

No doubt teams are gonna be airing it out vs NE this year. Youngest secondary in the league. Unproven talent out there right now.
With T.O, Ochocinco, and Gresham, don't be surprised if Palmer has 40 PA on Sunday.

i would start Benson over Hightower. Hightower is gonna split the carries with Wells and Wells will most likely get the goalie carries. Benson will probably get all the goal line carries and 20 plus touches against the Pats. Benson all the way.
As for your defense problem i would dump David Garrard and pick up a D that has a favorable match up for week 2. Sims Walker is more valuable than the Saints D that is already missing Darren Sharper. what are the available defenses in your league?

This is my first time doing fantasy and I got introduced with a ridiculous auction draft. Spent all my money on my first 4 picks.
This is what came of it..
QB- Phillip Rivers
WR-Andre Johnson
WR- Roddy White
WR-Eddie Royal
RB- Adrian Peterson
RB- Knowshon Moreno
TE- Heath Miller
FLX- Kevin Kolb
DEF- Dallas
K- Mason Crosby
BN- Braylon Edwards
BN- Brandon Jacobs
BN- Felix Jones
BN- Ben Watson
BN- Laurent Robinson
BN- Empty
Trying to make moves to pick up a better TE right away.

Are Shainco, Zach Miller, or Olsen available?

Nope across the board.
I'm trying to trade for Celek

Miller is a servicable TE

I would agree. The guys I listed are slightly better imo, but TE doesn't much matter. If you don't have a top 4-5 guy then you just make sure that your guy isn't injured or sitting on the bench.

Agreed. Miller is a popular target for Big Ben, and should be looked at as a "safe dump" option for Dennis Dixon over the first 4 games.

I found out that since this a PPR league that makes him a bit more valuable.
Shiancoe would have been nice but I was outbid by a buck, haha.

True dat. He doesn't impress many of the 'experts' but I know that Brett Favre loves his tight ends. Pretty sure that I have Shiancoe in all three of my leagues.

And you're a Packers fan....that's gotta be rough
I got Rodgers in 3 leagues

Wow. Who the heck is in your leagues to let you get away with Rodgers x3? I only got him in one league although I could have had him but opted for a RB in another.
I certainly would have prefered Jermicheal Finley over Shianco, but only managed to get him in one league as well.
Aaron Rodgers is going to be so dirty in Fantasy this year. I am green with envy.

Favre killed me by not giving the ball to Peterson at all the second half, ugh.

Someone picked up Rodgers for pennies in our draft. I have no idea how he slipped by everyone.

People get caught up in the RB/WR hype (especially PPR leagues) but I'm all about having that solid foundation at QB now. I think I drafted QB's first in every league. Brees and Rodgers, with Brady, Schaub, Ryan, Kolb, and others on my bench in some leagues (Yes I have to battle between Brady and Rodgers in one league...not a bad problem to have)
One of the leagues (the 3 QB start one) is 15yd/pt, 5pts @ 200yd(!), 7 @ 250, and 10(!!!) @ 300! Rodgers, Schaub, Ryan,
should put up 40+pts/game.

Kovo dont get caught up in the QB hype. it is easier now to get a QB that throws over 4000yds and 20+tds than it is to get a top RB/WR that puts up over 13TD and 1300yds than it was 5yrs ago. The NFL has gone to such a passing league that it is tough to get a premuire RB. just my opinion on things.
I guess it all depends on the league scoring system you are in.

So let's discuss the important stuff about fantasy football: team names.
I'm using these: Paper Street Soap Company, The Hebrew Hammers, and my favorite: Selective Fatigue Syndrome with a picture of Albert Haynesworth as my team logo/mascot.
Probably my favorite team too. A 10-team auction league that goes ridiculously deep with two starting QBs, an OP, and nine Individual Defensive Players (IDP) with three each at DL, LB, and DB. And a punter as well. $300 starting budget, and I got some great deals:
Frank Gore, SF RB $52
Miles Austin, Dal WR $46
Tony Romo, Dal QB $27
Joe Flacco, Bal QB $23
Greg Jennings, GB WR $22
Vincent Jackson, SD WR $2
Marques Colston, NO WR $29
Jason Witten, Dal TE $11
Arian Foster, Hou RB $22
Felix Jones, Dal RB $7
Malcom Floyd, SD WR $3
Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB $9
In this league Chris Johnson went for $101, and Adrian Peterson went for $89. So getting Frank Gore at nearly half those prices was awesome. And Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers went for $64 and $66, respectively, so getting Romo, Flacco, and Big Ben for $59 combined was huge as well. I'm a definite convert to the auction format: so much more interesting and exciting, and requires a higher degree of strategy.

Looking at a 3-1 record this weekend, with my one losing team down 116-80 with both Philip Rivers and Malcolm Floyd left to play tonight. 40 points is doable if they connect on a few scores.

Arian Foster put up some serious numbers for me wk one. Glad I benched Benson for him. I'm up a bunch but my opponent has two guys left to play tonight.

Foster was HUGE yesterday!
I crushed my opponent this week. Put up the top score with Ryan Matthews still to play...
long year...

Darn, those Texans looked good. I believe it was the first time they ever beat Indy. Could this be their year to finally make the playoffs?
Rodgers and the Pack not looking as good as I hoped they would, but still pick up the win. Maybe the Eagles are better off with Vick? Makes things tough for anyone who used up a top 5 pick to get Kolb... I am not that foolish.
Patriots D and Special Teams getting the job done. Welker healthy. Moss pissy. Interesting stuff.
Seattle with a blow out win. Who predicted that?

Holy underperforming elite players.
I need Rivers to put up big numbers tonight to stand a chance. Kolb laid a big ol egg for me.
