Franchi and I will take care of that. We can do it at Flatrock, but are also discussing other course options.

Depends on the time of year. At Barre, the entire course freezes except for the water. Bobka can work his magic so we can pull a one night permit. We've done it at Buff before and they are both ACOE.

The other option might be Tully, I would say Devens but the terrain would be awefully tricky.

Tully would be a prime spot for winter glow. I can just picture the moon sparkling off of the ice crusted snow as we walk down the hill on hole one. Not to mention that the park does NOT close. We were stopped by "mustache mafia" (royalston pd) while crossing the road from 9 to 10, I'm not sure how he felt about us using his spot light to charge our glow discs. We said a quick "Hello" and went on our way.

Or as Franchi has done before - the first round in the afternoon and the second round at dark. This time of year it is dark at 4:00 or so. If we're doing NEFA points, it needs to be two rounds and both rounds in the dark is a little much for people who don't usually work third shift. Franchi is saying that October is the best time to do it. I personally love playing night golf in the snow, but if it gets below 20 degrees, the discs don't glow as bright. The full moon in the snow makes it easy to see and the disc glow under the snow, so they are easier to see than they are during the day in the snow.

I highly doubt the rangers at Barre would allow it. I'll bet the house.

I got nutin'.

I'll ask if it'll make you feel better. It would be easier if it were a certain amount of people playing, say 20 or so, but with a points event at stake the numbers would probably be higher. More injuries to worry about. I can see them ringing their hands together and moaning......kinda like 'Celebration Day' from Zeppelin.

Only ask if it is easy to do so. There are plenty of courses to pick from.

should be a two 2, 2 day event....that would be crazy shiiiiznit...

screw the Blueberry Jam..I say FBN & LTD hook up a Day/Night Bonanza....hell get a band there...

crazy shiiiiiiit

oh hell even X tier the glow round for PDGA members who want a rated glow round....

I think I just created the best event ever...now thought to thing..hmmmmm

Burgess pahhhk would be ideal for a glo dubs round...easy terrain and perfect for glo. The only sticking point is getting a permit from the Town of Barnstable's recreation dept. Of course, a private course would be the most ideal locale.

We used to be able to do Pyramids, but those days are over. My dad video taped a night round there that came out really cool.

I think anyone could say this about any course...it all depends on where one lives. Burgess to Springfield is approx 3 hours. Just because you haveto cross over water doesn't make it marathon drive. On the flip side, I understand that the Cape is hardly disc golf central.

Does anyone remember playing glow golf @ BUFF. BACK in the day :?: We use to do it for a couple of years in row Rob W. and his Dad would bring the Flybynight discs and off we went with some awesome random draw doubles. We could set up old 12 to 2 for the evening and have one there on a sat. night some time this winter near the full moon.

Titan, so no special exemption for an extra NEFA event for the hosting the Glow tourney?

That means it would have to be somewhere that doesn't already have an annual event.

- Highlands in Conway, MA
- Hylands Brewery
- Crane Hill
- Rancho Rindge? (Needs to be completed, and it would be a rough course for a night round.)
- Newton Hill? (I think they're new enough that they've only had one NEFA event so far.)
- Fitchburgs new course?

Those are the ones relatively local to me that I'm aware of that might work.

Dave, do you remember the night round at Buff that was catered during the eclipse? I'd be happy to try and pull it off again.

bump....my local courses have used up our 1 event only per charter rules...

anyone talk to highlands of conway course owner recently..?

what small lil course that wouldn't be that hard to traverse wants to step into the world of nefa with this cool idea..?

edit..a way around charter restriction..maybe..create a smaller temp course at a course in an area that doesn't use same land while traversing..IDK...I could maybe see a lil temp course at the campground at Tully..we all rent it and have a frigging blast..the points ho's will flock and we will have a crazy big field...!

20 people respond with a frigging Heck Yeah and I will make it happen if I can(have to be after labor day though campground is packed until then...would rather see another course step up though...maybe Rindge..tough walking still

As much as I dislike the new layout compared to the old layout, what about Pelham, NH? It's never had a NEFA event, is less than 1 hr from Worcester, and pretty close to both Devens and Amesbury. It has 18 tees, 18 baskets... and that's really all that's needed.
That means it would have to be somewhere that doesn't already have an annual event.

- Fitchburgs new course?

I think Hylands and Newton both had/have 2011 NEFA events, even if they aren't held on an annual basis, they still get their 1 NEFA credit per year (though Hylands or Devens would be my picks if I could choose any course).

Another thing that could make this tourney work... Friday night disc! It's still technically on "weekend" time where it could fill, without taking away people's Saturday nights, and also wouldn't conflict with the NEFA charter and other events happening on Saturday daytime (thinking Sat. Night is still considered 'Saturday' so scheduling is trickier).
4/20/11, Ace #2, Devens - Hole 18. You just read that.

we would also need a place open/permission 24-7..with room for parking

friday at a course close to another course having an event Sat would be a cool weekend

so who runs pelham..?

Would this be one or two rounds? If it's two, it should probably be a day/night combo on a Saturday. Otherwise, it will be a LATE night. I like the idea of Crane Hill...it's not overly rugged or laced with OB.

edit...there also might be a Barre option now, John doesn't want to TD the Barre Bones event and is looking for someone else to take that over.

I seriously doubt that any public land would be willing to take on the liability of such an event. Just saying.

I love the idea of a glow tournament though. The first 'tournament' that I ever won was a playing in the dark in Sheboygan, WI the night before the real tournament.

I am 1000 rated night golfer.
