Looks like the town of Franklin will be getting a course installed at Dacey Community Field this fall. this might help relieve some congestion at Borderland. Anybody here invovled in this project?

Awaiting a response from the point-person for this project.
I sent a brief email offering any assistance/general information in regards to the project/course, and am going to check out the property later today.
Fingers crossed!

Oh no, now I'll have a reason to return to where I grew up. I'd love an excuse to help with this project but I don't want ot be the one-chef-too-many.

This project has lost all it's momentum and will not be happening...at least not for now

I'm so sorry to hear that. That's got to hurt. I'm sure everyone would love more details but perhaps you're just getting stonewalled or ignored. I think silence from the parks dept might be even worse than getting a flat-out no.
I, like many others, would love to help however I can.

GREAT NEWS in relation to this project. I just finished a walkthrough with Ken Gary and one of the leaders of the project. It's still very raw, but the potential is there. 18 holes for sure, with room to add more.
Early thoughts are to have 9 holes in by July, 18 done by September.
Baskets have been purchased and delivered!
I'm going to be spearheading the organization of work crews to help move things along, so anyone who's willing and able to help out...WE NEED IT! We need to show them what the disc golf community is capable of!
We are aiming for the first weekend in May (I know APO/EMC) but if you aren't attending either of those, we will definitely want your help. The more people we have, the faster this course gets installed, and there's no doubt that this area needs a course extremely bad!
This one is going to be a beast too!
Feel free to PM me or post if you want more info, or are willing to help out.
All hands on deck...

The design is pretty much done from what I understand. I think they have their vision and we need to respect that, but they seem willing to hear the feedback. It's still very raw...a lot of work needs to get done. You can't really say whether or not it favors a lefty or righty.

Hoping that first weekend in May is when they are ready to have a crew out there.

Hello NEFA. I am leading construction efforts at Dacey Fields for Ryan Jette, the Franklin recreation director. Starting May 5th/6th we will be holding work parties at Dacey Fields most weekends (weather permitting) until the course is complete. Our goal is to have 9 holes with baskets and tees (most likely natural with wooden boarders to start, pads to come after) done by the first weekend in July, with the remainder complete by the first weekend in September. If we can get legit pads in during that time frame as well it would be a nice bonus. Two Eagle Scout candidates will also be completing projects at the course.
For a little info on work parties. The town has 4 pars of loppers, 3 brush axes, a machete, and bow saw in the way of clearing equipment at Dacey. 1 or 2 chain saws are usually available, but if you have one that you're willing to bring down it would help move things along quicker. There is a supply of work gloves and safety glasses as well. Work will start around 8 or 9 and we'll meet at the small gray roll-off container by the practice basket.
See you in May.
Jay

35 more man hours of work at this course this weekend. Thanks to Pete, Tony, Ryan, Colin, Craig & his buddies for helping clear the monster which is hole 18. As of yesterday 5 fairways have been mostly cleared out. If we can polish these off and complete hole 4 in the coming weeks there is a possibility for 6 baskets by June 1st...
We'll need help to make it happen though, so if you have the time head on down. We' going to start Thursday night work parties this week to things speed up and offer more opportunity for people to make it to Dacey. Come down and get involved in a much needed addition to disc golf in southeastern MA.
