Saw them a couple times when I was at Clemson. Good show.

Might be interested. I'll let you know Ryan. What's the venue?

They are playing at the Garden.

I may possibly go.

I was at their first ever show, which was played in my high school cafeteria to a crowd of about 300 students.

Kind of funny to see documentaries about them now...

I am 150% all in on Dispatch.

I'm on the mailing list and such for advanced tickets. Now if I can just save up enough cash before they sell out.

I have to imagine they will add a second date since its the last show in the tour AND their hometown.

Hermit Thrush, Woodriver Bandits, and The Sholley Shananigans band merged into an all-acoustic band in the early 1990s as One Fell Swoop. They soon changed their name to Dispatch after a dispute with another band of the same name. Chad Urmston, Brad Corrigan, and Pete Heimbold, who were all attending Middlebury College comprised the band's lineup throughout their entire schooling. Their music drew upon several genres, such as acoustic folk-rock, reggae, and funk. They did several concerts in their early years both in and around Middlebury, gaining a name for themselves at the college.

However, even with their Middlebury roots, Dispatch's first show was not near their home campus. They first performed at Cosmic Cantina in Durham, North Carolina, while on a trip to visit one of the band member's younger sister at Duke University.

Eric, how come it says their first show was in Durham, NC?

It's funny cuse when I was at Clemson, alot of people thought they were from down there... I know they hit the Southern College Circuit hard.

And I am just wondering I knew nothing of their history.

I know One Fell Swoop played a couple gigs in Boston before becoming Dispatch.

Watch "The Last Dispatch" on netflix if you get a chance. Tells their story quite well.

Yeah....OAR is amazing, but I really dont like their newer CD/material. I love a lot of mainstream music, but some bands just should not go mainstream. OAR is a perfect example. Their older stuff is sweet. Dispatch is probably my favorite all time band though...Definitely picking up a few tickets. Maybe a NEFA roadtrip?? My favorite stuff right now is Mumford & Sons...what a phenominal CD.

If only Mark Sandman was still alive. Morphine is, IMO, one of the greatest bands to come out of Boston EVER.

I got to see Morphine in the mountains of Co. years ago (Cure for pain tour) in a small venue and they were amazing. Sandmans death was way to soon. Whatever happened to the sax player? That guy had mad skills as well.

I would be in for Dispatch. PjDiz turned me on to them a few years ago.

I just learned what he was doing the other day actually but it escapes me now. He's playing fairly mainstream still.

Dana Colley is still playing. I was hoping to see an AKACOD show for some time, but I don't think they've played together for a few years now. Even got my own AKACOD channel on Pandora. Nice, mellow groove stuff, and Ortiz's voice is sultry.

Ironically, Colley's current group Members of Morphine or Elastic Waste just played in Cambridge last night. In fact it seems they've played Atwood's Tavern every Wed in Jan.

Post-Morphine projects (1999–present)
Following Sandman's death, Colley, Conway and Dupree assembled a nine-piece band they dubbed Orchestra Morphine to tour behind their posthumous final album, The Night. Orchestra Morphine remained sporadically active thereafter, reassembling occasionally to perform Morphine material.

Musical chemistry between Colley, Conway and Orchestra Morphine member Laurie Sargent (a Boston mainstay and former member of Face to Face) led the trio to start their own group, Twinemen,[2] a name they took from a comic drawn by Sandman. Formed in 2001, Twinemen have since released three full-length studio albums and toured extensively. Continuing a tradition he had begun in Morphine, Colley provided woodblock print artwork for the band's records.[3] Colley, Conway and Sargent were also instrumental in re-opening the Hi-n-Dry studio and record label, Sandman's former workspace and imprint.

In 2006, Colley co-founded A.K.A.C.O.D. with bassist/songwriter Monique Ortiz of Bourbon Princess and drummer Larry Dersch. Considering themselves a low rock band in the tradition of Morphine,[4] the band released their debut Happiness album in 2007.

Colley and Dupree began playing with New Orleans transplant Jeremy Lyons as Members of Morphine in 2009. This trio performs classic Morphine songs alongside of new material, and played the ten-year anniversary of Sandman's death at the festival at which it occurred, the Nel Nome Del Rock Festival in Palestrina, Italy, on July 3, 2009.[5]

Colley has also made guest appearances with Primus (on live versions of the song "Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers"), and Lilium, a project from Pascal Humbert of Sixteen Horsepower and Woven Hand.[6]
