The Ion utilizes a two stage injection molding process... which means they have an inner core and an outer rim, which they can change in and out and come up with different varieties, without changing anything too drastically.
What's great about a design like this, is that most of the weight is on the outer rim. This makes for a great driving putter, which I know a lot of you out there like.
The Ion is very stable (thrown flat=flies flat), throw it with some good snap and form, and the glide on this disc takes over. Sneaky far without being all, "I'm going far!" It just goes far without making much of a fuss.
Some people actually like it for putting too
