10-pin bowling/league
Hey all
I went 10-pin bowling for the first time in my life over the weekend and loved it (the hot shooting - 180- helped)
Does anyone play fairly regularly, or know of any leagues? I looked at Pinz in Milford but they didn't have anything.
Bueller???

Re: 10-pin bowling/league
I've played at pinz a bunch of times... Maybe there's a way to run your own league, sorta like a dg league, just get a bunch of guys together to play?
I mean it's the cheapest place around, like 10 bucks for shoes, a 5 dollar arcade card, and unlimited bowling for like 5 hours.
Plus I think they just got their hard liquor license
I got a buddy that lives in Milford that might be down for something like that too?

I love 10 Pin, I suck at Candlepin, my hot score is 221 in 10 pin.
If it were closer I might be interested...

Kevin - that could be do-able. I know a few friends that would go. We could go and do random draw doubles or just do every man for himself.
No liquor license yet...at least not as of Saturday. I saw they have "$5 Tuesdays"...which also happen to be $.75 taco night at the bar/pub right there.
I'm serious about doin it...you in?

Kovo,
There's a place in Lowell, MA (about 15 min from the Devens Rt. 495 exit) that has a liquor license, leagues, and mailing lists which send out killer coupons to make it casual rounds dirt cheap. A little of a hike for you, but if going on weekends, it could be worth it.
I used to live down the street when I was at UMass Lowell and my roomate and I got hooked. Still go maybe once a month. There's a Pro Shop there, but there's also one closer to the highway where you can get sick deals on X-outs. Just like Innova, they're just misstamped. I got a great ball for 50% off that just has the Serial # engraved twice, had it sized to my hand, and it has a grape scent built into the finish. Sounds lame, but like Johnny Chan in poker using an orange's peel to calm himself, it's actually quite nice to have the same scent when trying to concentrate. Plus you don't have to shove your fingers into a ball that was used an hour before by Jimmy-itchy-crotch.
If you're serious I'd highly recommend the guy which I can look up if interested. Luckily for you, you're hitched so you don't have to worry about telling females why you carry a bowling ball in your car... and then explain the 20 frisbee-like things next to them.

Re: 10-pin bowling/league
A lack of 10 pin lanes is probably the only thing I miss from growing up in NJ. I lettered in Bowling (you can stop laughing now) in HS... had about a 180 average, top game of 259. It's beyond big in NJ. At my HS, it was one of the hardest team to make... I had one of the lower averages on the team!

Re: 10-pin bowling/league
I actually grew up playing candlepin and had a hi round of 168 and a hi 3 strings of 415 in that (like 3rd or forth in state tourney when I was 15). Back to 10-pin though. There are a bunch of them around Worcester all owned by AMF (rt. 9 Shrewsbury, Auburn) with bars and "wet lanes". Theres also Lanes and Games on Rt. 2 in Cambridge and Town Line Bowling on Rt. 99 just off of Rt. 1 south in Saugus both also have "wet lanes" and Town Line and AMF do "glow" bowling like Thur, Fri and Sat nights. Thats all of the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Lanes and Games is pretty straight. I live 5min away. Can't say i've been there recently, but it used to be cheep, has a decent bar/grill, arcade, candlepin and 10pin.
