While I'm usually the first to help debunk traditional "rule myths", I can't find anything on the pdga website (shocking.....) to deny or confirm what the regulations are on the height of the cage. I *thought*, once upon a time, that there was a minumum/maximum range on how high above the ground the cage had to be set - that was what still allowed holes like the elevated hole at dragan (mounted on a concrete pillar which raised the "playing surface" immediately below the basket) or old Pyramids Gold #5 legal (hung from the tree, but still within the "legal" range above the playing surface below it).
The basket in this picture simply has a large base which helps to keep it steady, while raising it much higher into the air than most baskets. My gut says that is/was not allowed, but... if it's at the Memorial it must be kosher, yeah? Or is this another case of disc golfers being disc golfers and just doing whatever they feel like?
