REAL NAMES FOR ALL MEMBERS ON THE NEFA FORUM **PLEASE READ**

Please take this message as your two week warning that the NEFA Forums will begin the process of switching over to your real names as posters rather than usernames/nicknames that you may have entered when you first registered. Your login ID's however, will stay as is.

This comes after a strong discussion about this topic late last year when last years BOD took this issue up and voted to change to realnames 10-3 ... the conversation continued into this year and the new BOD also voted in favor of this change 12 -1.

We have added a field under your name for you to enter a preferred nickname if you so choose (for members like Lick, eKap, Scoward, etc.) to hopefully appease as many of our members as we can. It is time for us to begin enforcing our user agreements, anonymous posting on the NEFA discussion board will not be tolerated any longer.

Once we make the change to all real names, ALL POSTS, PREVIOUS & FUTURE, WILL APPEAR WITH THE NAME OF THE PERSON THAT POSTED IT.

Until our change over begins in two weeks ... posters really have one of three choices to make:

1. Register a new login with your real name and the "unfavorable login ID" will be deactivated. If you choose this option and want to use the email attached to the "unfavorable login ID", just change the email address before creating the new ID.
2. Get busy searching your nickname ID and editing out anything you don't want attached to your real name. We can give you some time to do this but there will be a deadline established.
3. Stop posting here.

This is completely personal, but will our names have apostrophes in it? Last time I tried to put the apostrophe in my ID, it wouldn't let me (hence my sig and my ID of Ben D.). Thanks!

There was discussion about first initial/last name and first name/last inital and to make it consistent, we're asking for both first and last names.
There are a couple different people here with the same names(2 Jason Johnsons) and we're going to let JayBob keep that unique first name to eliminate the confusion between the two.


OK, on to Ben's dilemma............ I got the apostrophe to work in his name if I type it in the "nickname" slot, why can't it accept it in the real name spot?

Grandmaster Sully? Added to your nickname slot.

Those that want to add a nickname to their profile, go to:
User Control Panel >> Profile >> Edit profile
then you'll see the nickname spot at the bottom.

Sorry Ben, we'll have to look into the apostrophe issue a little further. For now, you still have your last name just with that mark removed. Will try and get a fix for ya soon

Rob Tatro requested that the post be made as "admin" since this was an administrative decision, decided on by the BoD vote which was referenced in the original post. The admin account exists just for these purposes. It's really just so the announcement is being made by NEFA as an organization. That way it's also not one particular individual being chosen to be the messenger of any "official" news.

I think Rob made a good call here, and I hope people can appreciate the usage. It isn't meant to be any one individual "hiding" behind an anonymous account (which is only made more ironic because of the particular post that was made, I agree. It IS kind of funny )

Scooter = John Scooter Feely. Clearly, Scooter is a nickname, my real middle name is Scott. However, John Scooter Feely is listed in the NEFA membership list; NEFA number 17. My preference would be Scooter Feely. Without the Scooter, no one will know who it is. A lot of people in the disc world don't know me by any other name, and I have had that name since 1972. Dispensation requested.
