Hey NASA,
What is the skinny on course selection for this challenge? Are we just playing one course or two diff. course (one for each round)?
thanks

My apologies for delay, I just got back from vacation.
We have decided on 2 course format: Pye for Singles and Pulpit for Doubles.
Steve: Both courses are 19 hole layouts.

Thanks guys, cards unfortunately will be 18 holes. However, we can split the back or front total portion to include the extra 19th hole if need be.
Looking forward to breakfast at Stewie's and lunch at Pulpit!

How many players will you guys/gals have for the 27th? Will your female player be in attendance?
We will be at least 3 short for the morning round and hopefully only 2 short for the doubles round.

We should have our full team, including our lady.
I would like to request a ~10am start time, with players meeting in Stew's barn. This way we'll be able to send some players to the Pye front gate and others to the back gate to minimize parking impact. Note that Pye gates are closed for the winter.
More details (directions, etc) to follow soon...
EDIT: No 9:45 Players meeting. Please try to get to Stew's by ~9:15 or earlier.

We lost another player today. That puts us at 12 in the AM (which includes our lady) and possible 13 for the after lunch round.

Pulpit is a hidden gem in the MA disc golf scene, and nevermind it's got a full clubhouse with full amenities, and JD and NASA NEVER dissapoint with their spread!
I fully suspect some players will sign up for the North Shore Classic immediately after playing Pulpit and experiencing the amenities!

Is anyone planning on going up Saturday to play and grabbing a hotel somewhere? Let me know. I've never played these courses and would be interested in getting some rounds in.

Welcome Team Wick! We're fired up to host our CT friends for the first time. We're both IN -- let's make this a good time.
Jack Nickel wrote:Looking forward to playing these courses.
Both are unique NE courses -- keep your expectations in check and we shouldn't disappoint you.
Pye is links-style/mostly open with fast/sloping greens and fairways. Generally
WINDY and 19 is long/tough Par 4.
6,234 =
1) 258 2)354 3)384 4)297 5)300 6)306 7)303 8)375 9) 357 = OUT)2,934
10)333 11)294 12)300 13)180 14)225 15)213 16)294 17)372 18)312 19) 777 = IN( 3,300
Pulpit is short and tight/wooded with OB, elevation change, and a few tricky greens. Avoid the mistakes and there's lots of easy birds w/some tough 3s.
5,141 =
1)245 2)200 3)285 4)195 5)354 6)235 7)325 8)310 9)365 10)276 = 2,790
11)270 12)336 13)206 14)250 15)200 16)270 17)282 18)330 19)207 = 2,351
LiCkAtHoN inspired, Pulpit has shared fairways but great accommodations.

Jesse Carrieri wrote:...hotel...rounds
No hotel required -- several beds and plenty of floor space. The two courses are 10 mins apart, but no close hotels.
Having folks around on Saturday would be cool -- Stands With's birthday.

As of Monday, the snow was nearly all melted w/ dry tees. We had < 1" snow on Tues with more expected Thurs, but any accumulation should be minor. Melting on Sat and Sun.
If we can get a shovel to anything that falls tomorrow, we'll be in great shape.

Thanks for reminder -- we will try to accommodate. If you do dairy and fish, you should be fine.
So far:
* Veggie menu includes homemade Mac n' Cheese, Haddock Chowder (if fish OK), fresh veggies/dip, and 7 layer dip. I also asked Mucc to bring something vegetarian.
* Beef items are Chili and American Chop Suey.
* Keg of Harpoon, Grenades

Here is a
Google Maps Link to locations for our Team Challenge.
1) Stew's Barn: 54 Washington St, Topsfield, MA 01983
-- From I-95, take Exit 52. Head East on Topsfield Rd which turns into Boxford St, then Washington St.
2) Pye Back Gate @ 52 Bare Hill Rd, Topsfield
3) Pye Front Gate @ 120 Haverhill Rd (Rt 97), Topsfield
4) Pulpit Rock DGC @ 12 Leslie Terrace, Rowley, MA 01969
-- From I-95, take exit 54A. Head East on Rt 133 towards Rowley for 1.6 miles. Turn RIGHT on Leslie Rd. Go 0.4 miles, then RIGHT on Wilson Pond Rd. Go 0.3 miles, then LEFT on Ellsworth Rd (dirt road). Go 500 feet, the LEFT on Leslie Terrace. House on Right at top of hill.
To play at Pye, most people will want to park at the Pye back gate, but we would also like to send a couple groups to the Pye front gate due to limited parking at both gates. This is why we are meeting at Stews barn. More on this to follow.
Let me know if there are any questions.

Ditter: How early can you make it to Stew's? Folks looking to warm up in the morning are complaining about proposed 9:45 players meeting, so here's an alternate idea:
Let's set the match-ups as early as possible (start around 9ish?), then give folks the option to head over to Pye once they have their match-ups and are ready to go. They can warm up for a while (at Pye) and we'll have shotgun start at 10am. If others prefer to hang at the barn, then head over for 10am start, they can do that too.
Stew will have baskets setup in his yard to practice putting and short shots.
