B-Pool Finals 4/9/11 Hyland 9:30 start

Post by Matt DeAngelis »

Hyland Address:

199 Arnold Road
Fiskdale, MA 01518

New beer drinking rules that must be followed at Hyland. When walking from 10's basket all the way to hole 12's T box, beer bought inside the brewery bombers or growlers must not be consumed. The same goes with walking from 18 to 1. The ABCC has been looking at Hyland's license and if they see this going on things could go bad.
Hyland owner has a license to pour beer at pavilion to be consumed in the surrounding area. It does not cover other beers. Growlers can not be filled at pavilion.
So if you need a beer when you leave 10 get one or two at pavilion. Don't get beers after playing 18 and walk to 1 with them.
We are looking into ways to change this but for now it has to be this way. Please pass this on to other team mates.

Schedule:
I will be putting together the hole assignments and get them posted here on Thursday night (pending me getting the list of players from team captains). I will not be doing any player check-in or anything like that. It is up to you to know where you are starting. The times listed below are estimates of where we should be. Lunch will probably not take 2 hours, but will play that by ear.

9:15 player meeting
9:30 Shotgun start- singles
12-2 Lunch (KanJam battle!)
2:00 Shotgun start- doubles
6:00 Awards

Food:

Each team will be on their own for food. Plan on a fairly quick lunch, but nothing rushed. We should be off on our second round by 2 at the latest, but will probably be more like 1-1:30.

Parking:

With all of these people going to the course, we should consider some carpooling from your local park and ride. If you don't have one nearby, there is one that is located just down the street from Hyland.

Park and Ride 2 min from the course

Scoring:

• Top 10 singles scores count. If a team has less than 10 the bottom scores will be counted twice. Ex. A team has 8 players, then 7th and 8th will count twice.

• Top 5 doubles scores count.

• Doubles scores will be double weighted.

• Each team will be able to play 10 players, with one of those being the woman on the team during singles. Each team will be able to play 6 doubles teams, no mandatory woman for doubles round.

Money:
We will have $900 to work with. The money will go towards beer, alt bev, CTP's, and other bounties. Details will be provided when the full breakdown is available.

ok..since people wanna vote with their hearts...lets be logical here..and logistics is huge with this many golfers..short notice ect ect and remember it is FOR FRIGGING FUN

cranehill

1.extra teams this year=less parking
2.muddy parking lot for sure
3.no close stores or food
4.no bathroom..and yes you WILL need one this year the guy who runs the place was not to happy last year with peeps pooping and peeing everywhere..
5.porta potty 150 peeps blowing it up..!
6.played last year
7.no tees
8.won't fit many golfers

maple/pyr

1.greens fees
2.why keep beating the backs of those guys..it is a business and courses will need to be shut down no parking for customers...we are not the only golfers in new england
3.crazy scoring issues...! good luck gathering all the cards..!
4.back and forth driving
5.maple may be in B pool

hylands

1.150 drunken golfers could be crazy
2.parking..IDK..?
3.course is short and won't fit many golfers
4.no tees
5.prob muddy
6.some teams played challenges there this year some did not

wick

1.5 bucks for parking

I would go with the course that had the less disadvantages

advantages of wick

1.bathrooms
2.plenty of parking
3.food that crew will line lunch orders up..I am sure of that..!
3.neutral..say its not BUT no course in B pool claims IT..maybe tollaND..? WHO CARES name a course and i will name a team..!
4.most can play
5.not much back up the place is friggin huge
6.nobody has played it for 6 months....!
7.good place for central location for cards ect ect
8.mostly dry I bet on that..! basically FL in CT compared to MA
9.not that far for anyone except Borderlands...screw them they are A poolers anyways..!
10. plenty of good ctp holes
11.most players around have played it and if not what a treat..!
12...oh yeah some of the better tees in the north east...amongst FDR,tully, pyr

just saying...someone counter argue that..! please do..!

any course where 150 golfers show up to play..I think its safe to say the casual golfer will just say WTF is going on DiscGolf fest and prob just be scared and run or sit and watch in awe

B POOL FINALS 4/9 @ ??? wick,pyr/maple,hylands,j-park

Post by Chris Bolton »

Wick is also right off the highway which makes traveling easier.

Lots of hotels near by.

Bring the family. Wife and kids can go spend the day at buckland mall. Westfarms
Mall. Science center in Hartford. Blue back square/ west Hartford center.

Also can play the alt layout one round

Many bathrooms

$5 for parking, but just stop at a park and ride. Pack the car full and then cheaper per person

The pools are set. Tolland and Borderlands come to B and Tully and WV go to A.
This means that the B pool final is:

Tolland
Borderland
Borderland 2
Panthorn
Noho
West T
Maple Hills
Dam Team
Buff

I want to play Wick. People may say that Tolland has an advantage at Wick, but personally I don't care. I haven't played Wick since last September and I need a fix. Who in their right mind would disagree?

What will it cost us to get the place closed for the day? We will need to have the place to ourselves.

Why is everyone talking about needing a course for 150 golfers? That will not happen anywhere. Someone is doing the math wrong.

1-4 teams get up to 14 players.
5-9 teams get up to 12 players.

That equals 116 people.

not sure if that is the format for B pool, Matt

may be 16 * 9 = 144

even at 116...29 holes are needed....

108 would be a good magic number....12 per team....27 holes needed..coughJParkcough

unless 5 holes could be added to the Wick Course making the 22 to 27

Any course only being able to fit 72 would be nuts..only allowing 8 per team to play per round

wick is 22 = 88/9=9.777777

could Wick be altered to add 5 more holes..? could 2 rounds of 27 on a filled course be accomplished in 1 day..?

Screw you B poolers..your on your OWN..get better and make it to A pool and you won't have to deal with this..!   ....

Wick is plenty large enough for everyone and you dont need the place to yourself.

Have everyone been to tourneys at wick? Crap ton of golfers and 4 times as many other people using the park at the same time. It'll be fine.

I'm voting wick.

Its Maple Hill's decision. No need to cast any votes Cheef.

A tournament is 90 people, and we need the course closed to accommodate that. with 115-150 we definitely cant have casual players mucking things up.

We have $400, will that be enough to get the place for the day?

Buff would be awesome Dave, they fear you guys!!!!!

You guys are in b pool. Can't be at someone's home course.

I'm sure Maple Hill will make a good decision on where we are playing.

I always said it would be better to just have the last place team host B pool Finals...give em the BS for being in dead last....its more like a chore rather a reward..Panthorn stepped up last year..

It doesn't really matter if it's a home course to a team or not...there's nothing at stake except for bragging rights! Hell...if Maple Hill wants to play at Maple Hill I say SWEET!

Wouldn't you want to beat an opposing team at Finals on THEIR home course???

Regardless...it's a BORDERLAND INVASION at Finals

That is set for FINALS. It doesn't matter if it's the A pool finals or the B pool finals. It is still the numbers set out for finals. I honestly would like to help out with running this on the 9th, but not if it is going to be that many people. Even at 116 people, it would be tough to get that many people in on the course.
