I checked out the satellite image on google...looks promising indeed!
Just imagine how many courses we could have in CT before the end of this decade!

There was a bit about cleaning up the parks of Hartford last night on the news but no comments on putting in a Disc Golf course.

KENEY PARK DISC GOLF is happening!!!!!!!!!!!

We are being funded by the City Council and will be beginning installation VERY soon...............

Course will feature Innova Disc Catchers and brushed cement tee pads, and one alternate pin position on every hole - to start.

Great news. Payoff for all of the demo's, etc done over the years.

A lot more open real estate to work with than what one generally finds within a typical CT wooded footprint.

Thanks to all who have worked this hard!!

Huge thanks have to go to Dave Mourad and Nicholson Willard - who were the primary initial contacts with Friends of Keney and the City Council.

A word of advice in dealing with a municipality. Strike while the iron is hot and order all of the hardware (baskets/tee ingredients) ASAP. They can easily run out of money for all sorts of other reasons (snow removal, road work, etc) and eliminate stuff thats been approved (but not spent) in other discretionary areas. Get them pregnant!!

Two and a half years later - we have been funded.

20 Chainstar baskets and 38 sleeves have been ordered.
The plan is to start initially with two pin positions per
hole and two natural tees per hole. Long to long will be,
well - um, long.

Waiting now on some paperwork allowing us to actually
start on the construction/cleanup.

Vandalism seems to be a pretty large issue, especially
when it comes to "recycling" metal .............. now, I
know that galvanized metal is pretty much useless -
but that doesn't mean that an individual won't try. My
thought is to assemble the baskets, then fill the entire
tube with cement -- any other thoughts in this regard?

Anyways, Big Nic's dream will soon become reality -
so stay in touch with him or here, more to follow in
the near future.
