The course was pretty dry, with all things considered. I played tonight and found only a couple wet spots, which will be taken care of this week.
There are new flags on each basket to lessen the confusion. Red, White, Blue and Gold flags are up and functional. I believe we need to put the red flag on the long basket for #8. Oh, and by the way, that is a nasty little biatch when the wind is blowing.
Look at the tee surfaces to be updated on a few holes.
Look for the wood chip mulching being done around baskets.
Look at the two leagues being played on tuesdays and thursdays. Doubles tuesday and singles thursday.

Throw some ideas  out there you think would help the course, I'm all ears. It helps to hear it from a variety of people.

Here's one:
Make signs that are placed in area's to direct you from the green's to the (correct) tee's.
and another:
Fix bridge on hole 13. It's about as stable as 150 class valkyrie.

Keep em' coming.....

As much as I would like to say I want the course to be at it's very best for the Vibram Open, Fcuk them.
The course looks great when they get here because of their tournament date. It's late summer and there has been plenty of time to do work days and fluff and buffing to the land.
I'm more concerned with having the place mint for the weekly players that use the course. I'd rather the red and white courses be in fantastic playing shape, because that is where the majority of the players play. These are the customers. The touring pro's and the pDGA are making a week long appearance, then off to never-never land.
So, in short, I do what I do for the players who support Maple Hill. The everyday Joe.
Not Nikko or Feldberg. :afro: :cat:

Oh snap!!!
New bridges on holes 13 and 16. See if you can tell.
Made some big piles of brush, which make big piles of fire on rainy burn days.

Kinda started clearing some space for...........

Look for hole #2 to have nice dry paths for doubles tuesday night.
Starting to piece together what will be in store for the Team Maple Hill Labor Squad bum-rush on the BOMB layout...
Steve wants a hole developed on #10 with a tee in the ground, sooner than later, for the Gold V.O. layout.
Me likey digging holes.

.......a rainbow layout?? or the space ship coming to pick us up :alien:

Keep up the good work dave! We will have to discuss what projects are going to be tackled and begin organizing a team work day to throw some polish on that gem

The new flags on the baskets look very nice!

I think there is one slight mistake tho: on hole 8 I believe the short basket should have the white and blue flags and the long basket should have red and gold ( red playing from the drop zone). Unless red is going to go back to throwing over the water, which is how me and Mr. Palache play it anyway. Just my .02.

Here's a suggestion. When I was working up there last summer, I had several new-to-the-course players tell me it was confusing finding their way to the correct next tee. Instead of those painted bricks with arrows we made, maybe something more permanent and not so easily moved/kicked, like a small directional sign stuck in the ground would be better. Maybe even have a few more small signs along the way for the longer walks just so players are confident they are going the right way.

Or, maybe a small 12x12 low sign placed in the same location near every basket with color-coded arrows to the next tee. Something non-obtrusive that won't effect play but that the player will know where to look for.

Just brainstorming...
Long live the B!

I'm smelling what yer' stepping in.
Those signs are crucial and happening this weekend. Kind of like when you are skiing down a mountain and there are trail markers telling you either left, right or straight.

Lots of X-MaS tree's were planted over last week. Just over 800 in the field on hole 11, left side.
Another patch of less than 200 were put into 13. 8-)
The part that is tough, 1000 more on their way.

So, if you can, be mindful of the tree's. They are about 16" tall and look like little xmas trees.
We dont plant tree's on paths so you are able to enjoy the paths

We are starting up the TEAM MAPLE HILL WORK DAYS.
First saturday in May, the 7th to be accurate, will be the first work day.Be there at Maple Hill at or before 9AM.

We'd like a group of team members, 3 to 6 players interested in working on the course.
Raking, shoveling, dragging brush to big piles. spreading wood chips. straightening the baskets.
One thing Tom would really like done is cleaning out to the left of the blue tee on hole 14. Just make a huge brush pile.
It's a long list of stuff we need to start cracking on.

The Vibram Open layout needs to be ready sooner than later....
I'm tired.

Yay!!!!
The xmas trees are all planted. Tom is a manimal when it comes to planting.
We have been picking up brush piles and taking them to the brush dump pile. We've burned on rainy days. I drive around the course and still see soooooooo much to do.
Someone made the sap shot and won $155. It's already filling back up.

We've got a tournament on May 21st and the Earl Cup on the 22nd. THE COURSE WILL BE OPEN DURING THE EARL CUP.
There may have to be some jockeying around of players, so the Earl Cup players don't get in the way of the weekend warriors who play the course so frequently.

We are having a work day, this SATURDAY at 8:30am. Bring gloves and the appropriate SAFETY equipment. We will be focusing on things that are mildly enjoyable. Tom and I can do the work that sucks to do. Maybe after the work day, which should last till about lunch time, people will want to go throw a round?

and last but not least, the two leagues being played at Maple Hill are doing well. Always a great group of people showing up when the weather allows. Tuesday Night is dubz @ 5:30 and Thursday Night is singles @ 5:30.

Check lost and found to see how many throws you gagged into the multiple ponds on the course

tomorrow: the path that walks you from the 15th gold tee to the basket. Ya know, the one they use at the Vibram Open.
Well as you walk from tee to green, we want to BUFF the area to the left of the fairway, up to the other path that leads you to the red and white tee's on 15.
It looks like a giant beast ate whole trees and then [bleep] out what is there now. I know how to make it disappear.

BIG BURN DAYS. Burning hot and devouring anything you put in it. I got a hunch we be burning mon. Boyeeeee, lord have mercy....

8:30 is start time. Bring work gloves and rain coat.

Just want to give some thanks to the people who came out today to the work day. We got more done than expected and the course looks so awesome because of it.
The efforts of the guys who showed up today inspire me. Makes me want to try a little harder and care a little more. And for that I am grateful. :D
Tim Carter, Mike Polenski, Dave Jenkins, Aaron Haddad, Steve and Tom all worked together to get sh*t done. Very many thanks to you guys. I'm sure tree's will jump out of your disc's way when playing. If there are disc golf gods, they approve this message

flags vs. tee signs

Post by Jeff Prendergast »

What takes precedence, the new flags or the current tee signs? If a tee sign and flag disagree, who's the boss?

I like the new flags, they really stand out.

I hear that at league these days they play by the flags. Thats what I hear anyway. White flags is fun and the reds keep getting easier... can someone break 40?

Looks like another saturday forecast of possible showers, probable course work and plenty of disc. Can you make the new gap? That anny bomb better keep turning...

PM sent worm.

The flags are right. The tee signs will be updated in the near future. Hopefully scorecards too.

If you play the blue layout, there will be blue flags on the tee's and baskets of each hole. The tee signs are off a little.
These are the things we deal with while trying to improve the disc golfing experience at Maple Hill. Lots of doing, un-doing, re-doing and tweaking. Like the NEW gold tee on #10. There is a gold flag on it and it plays to the castle basket.

There is a new gaping wide open Anhyzer window when shooting from the Gold tee on number 16. Like WTF???

Who in there right mind will try to crank one over 400' of water, through a 50'wide gap, leaving them a deuce on 16 GOLD???

How about the new anhyzer shot from the tee of the #15 BLUE tee. Sick!!!!

The course is just getting better daily. I feel as if it is in better shape than last year, 2 weeks before the Vibram Open.

Would anyone play a saturday morning league up here? Could be good if you tee'd off at 9am. Kinda like a players league, where people come to practice for the Vibram Open? Play the Gold layout each week...?

Got Maple Hill 6 tournament going on this weekend, the 21st of May.
Then some of the BEST players in the Northeast are playing the annual Earl Cup on Sunday, the 22nd.

Although the course will be busy with tournament play this weekend, we will still be able to get players out on the course to play on SUNDAY.
Lots of course layout changes so.........

PLAY THE LAYOUT ACCORDING TO THE FLAGS ON THE TEE'S AND BASKETS. not the scorecards... Each tee has a colored flag(s) on it and also the basket(s). Make sure you are teeing off from the correct tee and shooting to the correct basket

When Playing league last night we couldnt find Hole 17's new tee box for white and gold. We saw the arrows on the bricks, but no box. Has it been created yet? Or did we just miss it somehow?

The course, as always, looks great. The new 16 white is really nice. 520' or so? I didn't even know there was a little river off to the right side there. Thank you Mr. Jackson for the returned KC Pro Eagle. On an unrelated note, we played behind Jerel's group during his first round. Every one of his shots was an ace. Even his 2nd and 3rd shots.

The course has been getting mowed this and last week.
There are new holes on 16 and 17. I think the red layout on 17 is AWESOME.
and the white layout on 16 is awesome too...

The NEXT Team Maple Hill workday is going to be SATURDAY, MAY 28th. Starting at 8:30ish. Looking forward to seeing some team members out there. Tom has mentioned some things he'd like to see done and if a bunch of us tackle it together, we should bang it out in no time. I promise to keep it to only a few hours and you'll have enough gas in the tank to go play a round after we are done.
Give me a heads-up on who is coming.
