Cracked iPhone screen

My iPhone screen spidered pretty bad a while back. It's getting to the point where I can't stand it anymore.

It works fine, just can't see all that well.

Anyone know of a somewhat cheap solution? The Apple Store said I could get it replaced for $130...was hoping there's a cheaper option.

I slammed mine in the tailgate of my truck a while back and took it into the Apple Store, once they saw I had an Otter Box case protecting it, they replaced the screen for free.

My wife thought the extra $50 for a case was a bit excessive.......... i showed her, LOL!

So I should buy an otter box case, beat the crap out of it so it looks a bit worn, then go in and say it happened???

Not sayin it's gonna work 100% ...... The guy looked over my account, saw I'd had no other repair claims and said he'd put a new screen on it and run a diagnostic to see if there was any other damage. He came back 20 min later, handed me my phone and said "you're all set".

I'm figuring they're allowed a little wiggle room when it comes to damage claims and my circumstance allowed him to fix it for free.

As far as trying what you said, I'd give it about a 60% chance of working...... For all we know, there's a shock sensor on these phones that time-stamps any hard hits and your story won't match up with the saved timeline.

Is it worth the $50 case to have Apple possibly add a fraudulent claim attempt on your account?
