serious question??

do you folks with over a dozen discs in your bag actually use all of them or are a handful of them for just in case scenarios.......i only carry about 7 maybe 2 more if i am going to anywhere with water hazards... whats the general opinion... should i continue with my 7 which i have a pretty good idea what they all should do most of the time....what do people think is the minimum # that should be carried and what is overkill........what is the 1 disc you couldnt do without.... :?: ok so maybe its more than 1 question...i am thirsty for knowledge...inquiring mind wants to know

I could get by with 10 discs. But there are a couple in my bag that are "just in case" discs.

Randy,

To answer your question (sorry for the thread drift) in a not so short manner...

It's the old 80/20 rule. 80% of your throws will be done with 20% of your discs. All the rest are for the occasional "special" situation.
Most players could do within 2-3 shots of a full bag's worth with only 3-5 total discs; it's just that there is no maximum number (as there is in ball golf) so, if you're strong enough (hopefully 'yes') why not carry the extra "insurance"?

And it may depend on the course (some courses have a diversity of shots required, some the same-old, same-old).

2nd what Karl said.

Some courses like one I was playing in TX a few weeks back was just Starfire-Rhyno, every hole. The other course I played there was much more diverse. My discs used in order over the 1st 4 holes were Buzz-Dx.Rhyno-Dx.Rhyno-Vulcan-Summit-Firebird-Ch.Rhyno-Firebird-Zone-Dx.Rhyno. The variety in the course holes and WIND will determine what you'll probably bring and use.

I could get away with playing Devens with 2 discs (and probably will for their upcoming 2-Disc dilemma tourney...cough...plug...cough) but normally I play there with 20. There's so much going on there, you never know what shot you'll need if your previous throw doesn't go as planned.
4/20/11, Ace #2, Devens - Hole 18. You just read that.

Randy:

I could get away with one wizard, one meteor, one buzzz, one sidewinder, one TL, and one wraith. I carry extras of these are either new, old, overstable, stable, flippy, etc. It's not that I am carrying 20 different disc types, just 3-5 of each of the above 6 molds.

And my game has gotten much better since I committed myself to these specific discs.
