B2Bombers @ Pleasant Hill Oct 29

Post by Pete Violet »

Hey! The date has been set by our two teams. I hope all of our scheduling will be as easy as this one has been. Can't wait to get started!

We are certainly looking forward to our trip to beautiful Maine and playing Pleasant Hill!

Thanks in advance for hosting us!

No problem, we're definitely looking forward to it. Our course hasn't looked better. FYI, as with 97% of Maine's courses, this one is private. The greens fees are only $5 per day, but with the amount of upkeep pHill provides (fully stocked clubhouse, meticulous mowing, free disc recovery from ponds) it is definitely a deal. Dogs are allowed at the course also. http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2441# http://www.philldiscgolf.com/

So does a member of your team own the course or something? Is there an arrangement worked out or are we all to pay $5? Not hating, just wondering.

Kevin, neither team is getting a break on the greens fees. However, Toothy has offered that his team pick up half of our green fees so that they would pay 7.50 and we would pay 2.50 each to ease our traveling expenses. It is true we are driving and possibly staying overnight, but lets not forget they are putting on a spread (Toothy relayed to me the variety of food and drink :drunken: for that day) for us. So I said that B2 would discuss amongst ourselves whether we wanted to take them up on their generous offer. Thanks very much Jason - we'll get back to you.

We can't wait to host our first team challenge as PHill...I hope you guys are fully aware of the whooping that Maine has been laying down on the New England disc golf community in the past couple team challenge seasons, because this season is not going to be any different.

Our goal is to make it two Maine squads in the A Pool again next year.

Yeah Rob - we know full well the calibre of player that come from Maine. However, that being said - we had very difficult try-outs this year - we are a much improved team - and I for one think we may have something to say about that :D Let me say in advance - sorry if we throw you off track of your goal in your very first challenge.

As for the greens fees - our team really appreciates your offer to pick-up part of ours. However, we don't feel the $5 is a big deal and we insist we will pay our half. Thanks anyway!!

Sounds like you guys also know how to party! My team makes sure I stay away from the hard stuff.

P.S. Our course is wide open, bring your best "Bombers" and it'll be a long-D shootout...

Just cuz you're taller than the short kid, doesn't make you an NBA player.

Hey B2, I did some recon this weekend. Very easy course. Wide open holes with only trouble coming into play on a couple of holes. It can be very windy, so get your approach shots close and remember that during match play, the layup is sometimes the best option. Also, not all holes are bombers. There are really only a handful that I would clasify as bombers. The rest are open midrange/putter/fairway driver holes that just require an accurate shot more than anything.
