Distance between two NEFA events.

Post by Justin White »

With so many people playing tournaments, do you think we could shorten the distance between two NEFA events on the same day. A lot of people get shut out of tourneys and don't want to travel so far to play a different one. Discuss.

I believe the distance was reduced in this years' Charter.

It will be worth looking into as the number of tourney sellouts increase.

Forgive me for offering any input. Rainy days keep me at home and I mistook this for an open forum.

What difference does the state line make....you wouldn't want a NEFA event at Buff and West T. on the same day, correct?

Why do state boundaries have any bearing on traveling to a tournament? If West Thompson had a tournament the same day as Buffumville there would be an attendance split. If Borderland had a tournament the same day as North Hampton, the split would be much smaller. What are we missing?

I was not attacking Steve. I honestly thought I might be missing something. Looking back I see I posted nearly the same thing as Troy at the same time. If there is a reason, please let us hear it.

Okay, I probably took it all wrong. My apologies.

The thought was that people who play Tolland(example) may not travel to Blands. Or People who play West T may not go to Beauty Hill. Yet they are not allowed to have the same weekend for pts events.

We had to move the West T open to a day that the GHDGO was being held to avoid tournaments in other states that were given exclusive days.

a lot of TD's dont have a problem with events being close. the charter just says that you need approval from both TD's.

Actually, I believe TD's do care about having a competing event close to them. When a TD invests in a event they believe in (a passion, something they believe in for you the player) and have to deal with competition from another local event, that can cut into the player registration numbers etc. When player registration numbers are compromised that increases the risk a TD is gonna take on investing on a event. That TD is not going to risk investing in the best possible event without a solid vibe that the numbers will be there for that event.
This is not the situation for every event. Some events can be successful having events close by. Our sport is a growing sport and our governing rules are ever changing.

I didn't mean a lot of tds. That kind of came out wrong. Of course if another event is 25 miles away it will cut into your player pool and I wouldn't want to share the date. If an event is 90 miles away I would be much more apt to share
