Titan,

I for one will be there (god willing)...where ever "there" is. Doesn't really matter. It's the 'atmosphere' thingie about this one.
If you think the Petersham course is 'good enough' for us geezers, cool. Your call.
Cost is no object  ...well, within reason :) .
A different course / rotating course is also good (nothing wrong at all with Tully) but it probably should be in "central NEFA" so as to make it easier for the majority of O.F.s to make it.
Fun's the word in '12.

Karl got it right! This is more the company than the course. Keep the whippersnappers (and their long arms) out :)

Any chance of caddies this time? Maybe an extra fee, going to charity?

How about a mobile "portapotti" for the Senior Grand Incontinent division?

Sign me up - Senior Grand Master, my last year in this division.

Next Year?
I'm like the Lebron James of disc golf...except for, you know, that whole being a giant douche thing.

Titan - thanks for doing such a great job last year with this and trying to up the ante this year. If you can make Petersham work, great - it sounds very appetizing, especially on a ball golf course (will have to get my roller shot working again...).

My impression of last year's event (a superb start!) was that even we oldest competitors handled everything Tully threw at us as a fair challenge (well, except maybe a few of those @#!%# back nine woods holes...just kidding!). So, both carts and caddies would be a luxury, not necessarily worth the extra cost (if there were to be one). I think keeping away from arm-damaging loooong courses is much more important. Yes, you can protect your arm by throwing multiple shorter shots, but then you don't get to play holes the way they are designed to be played. What fun is that?

This may be a close call for me this year. I tore the long head of my bicep recently and need to get it evaluated. I'll probably need surgery and may not be recovered in time to defend my title. We'll, see...

From what I've seen of watching the best "seasoned" players in the world I've found that putting is far more important (and indeed more practiced) than the long bombs. I think a course that would have a higher percentage of putts (<50) to drives (>200) would be a better fit for the patriarchal generation.

While high-percentage putting (<35) is certainly critical at all levels and ages, I find it boring. What's kept this well-seasoned vet competitive and captivated throughout my 54-year career is the challenge of coming up with a wide variety of accurate (and often necessarily creative) approach shots.

West Thompson has a bunch of holes that are short but challenging and the walk is mostly flat. Only hole 10 and 15 are real bombs. Just sayin'. Oh yeah and I live close by.

What is the age "requirement" for this event. Must I be a PDGA member? What should my rating be (it is a pride thing) to compete?

Chris,

Be it "Pro" or "Am", in dg, master = 40+, grandmaster = 50+, senior grandmaster = 60+, legend = 70+, and I think there's a senior legend's division now (not sure if it starts at 75+ or 80+...help here!).

I doubt that Titan will mandate PDGA membership; didn't last year.

Ratings are irrelevant (no, really!).

Thanks! I might be in for AM Master. Not sure if there will be hay in the field then. If there is my arm will be puddy so it will be a no go for me.

yes Karl, you are correct...with plans to host at petersham their will be added cost and I wanna keep the fee cheap this year..that said..I am gonna hold off sanctioning at least1 more year..I will still lobby for the nefa points charter to allow events of this nature count for points in divisions that nefa offers...under the "all divisions offered rule"..although I hope that does not discourage people playing in actual division that fits age..so I must ponder this as well..

The point is to offer an event that caters to age levels above 40 and attract some new players and reunite some older players..so a cheap for "pride" and fun is cool with me for now the more I think about it..in time maybe we go the next "level" whateva that may be IDK

thinking $15 for am's $30 for pros prob minus $10 for expenses/fees..I want trophies this year in some fashion

last year IMO was success hope to sell this out this year at 72 players

You're getting uncomfortably close to a "Deceased" division!

legend 60+
senior legend 75+
grand legend 80+

Nit-pick'in here, but I think you meant to say "legend 70+", no?, as SrGM is 60+. But if that's the criteria for SrL and GL, good to know...and hoping to be around then!

actually walking for the DG course isn't that bad...the up hill parts play along that old dirt road in middle of course..the rest is flatish,downhill..15-17ish plays a lil uphill but not bad

that one big downhill golf hole not sure on number is a DG hole as well now

carts would be available oldest first..have meeting with tim bishop on 3/5 will get all logistics then available carts for event, estimated fees ect ect
