Protos are in the mail!
The warehouse just sent me a box full of new Protos to try out.
Two awesome mids (Mistic and ??) and a Driver (Samarai)
I was on the phone with Justin Bunell and he says they are awesome (He doesnt always say that).
I will update when I throw them!

Charlie:
Any idea on how current Soft Wizard production runs are turning out?
The ones you generously provided for the Mid-Summer Madness were definitely stiff, but also very slick (as compared to historic runs). Are current runs a bit more "tacky" or "chalky"?
The MSM wizards are definitely stable to overstable though, and seem to take tree hits pretty well.

Re: Protos are in the mail!
I'll be able to give you a more accurate idea when i receive this shipment as I also ordered a bunch of wizards as well.
Those players pack discs from Mid Summer Madness are good as driving putters. Usually you dont see many "chalky" runs in the Medium stiff plastic. The chalky runs usually fall in the SS-SSS range. Not so much in the S-M range.
Everytime I order for myself I ask for my Magics to be as chalky as can be but still be firm. He has to cherry pick to find those beauties.

Re: Protos are in the mail!
that's how I feel too ... the Mid-Summer wizards are good for driving, but just didn't have enough "feel" to them to use for strict putting duties ...
Found some sweet Utopia-bottom stamped softs that fit the stiff but tacky criteria, and some bottom-stamped organics that had a nice stiff edge to them but also felt tacky ... bought em all up ... but I'm always looking for more ...
please let me know what your take on the wizards are when you get them ...

Re: Protos are in the mail!
Update:
Both discs immediately made the cut and found a place in my bag!
The Karma is a fast midrange that has a beautiful straight flight when thrown hard. Very similar to a stable Roc but faster. Slightly slower and less stable than a Q-Sentinal.
The Mystic is an understable mid that holds a beautiful anny line. I got a couple birdies at our team challenge this weekend with it. Great all around approach disc.
And the grip on these are awesome for wet weather golf. Very grippy.

Re: Protos are in the mail!
Charlie, you seem to know Gateway putters pretty well so I've got a question for you. I picked up a supersoft magic a year or two ago and the inner rim was convex. I recently got a new one and the rim underneath is flat (like most putters). Did they change the mold? Are the convex rimmed Magics still available? Thanks!!

I think so. I havent thrown the mako but I did feel one. Similar type of all purpose approach disc.

I've noticed this as well from a few different runs they have sent me. I don't know the answer yet but i will find out. I do know what you're talking about though. Weird. I thought it was just me!
