NH is too spread out. There's no contiguous community of players to build a team with.

time to unite or are the defined lines allotted by the state to divide towns/cities to much of a restriction for you guys?

Too much travel. We lost a Maine team last year and Cran has had to bust their nut trying to make their challenges this year. Hats off to Cap'n L and Burgess for always having to max travel and always making it happen. I know it's not that big a deal for cent mass teams, but those on the fringe have more difficulties.

You got that right!!

The only problem with VT and NH teams are the distances.

Burlington, VT are about 3 HOURS north of Brattleboro, VT and most GMDGC members lives in those northern areas.

Brattleboro seems to be the BEST place to live whereas you can able to easily travel less than 2 hours to four different states nearby - NY, MA, NH, and CT.

yeah BOYZ

rally the troops and come join the fun...its too long of a gap not having any VT'ers around from Nov to April

pretty sure regardless of travel..once amonth could be swung..heck I am sure the powers that be would give ya your home matches in OCT and March so your courses are playable...then you guys have just 2 long drives over the winter..prob be like a vacation...then one neutral...prob get it so only a 2-3 hour drive is needed for both teams

8 players is the minimum...and the other team plays with how many? Any divisional # requirements ( how many players are ams, how many pros?)
Titan Bariloni

Re: why no teams in VT and NH

Post by Titan Bariloni »

chris league low down in a nutshell

ya need 8 guys to make a challenge official...ya can have 16 players on a team one being a girl and 4 alts for when others can't make it

if one team has 12 guys and the other has 16..well 12 players from each play..number counts are usually fine tuned in thread leading up to challenge..and of course some no shows last in always happen

ya play 5 challenges..2 home,2 away,1 neutral from oct to march then finals is mid april

players need to play 3 challenges..this means 1 round at the challenge for finals..and alts can qualify as well if they get three in

1 round is singles match play..and the other is dubz stroke play..ya get 1 point for each single win and 2 for dubz..ties are worked out by the captains (to play off or not) usually depends on time/weather conditions.

in all honesty 12-14 committed guys/gal can make this happen..no restrictions on pro/ams ratio..if ya wanna a ringer team find the best..if ya want a fun team find the biggest animals VT has to offer..if ya want a mix find some good players that have fun...then watch the crazy fun unfold and spark run wild through VT over the years with teams spawning everywhere

edit..don't wanna speak for Pat but I bet ya could get pat, trav, britt and one other of their DG budz all solid players..pretty south so they would be legit for travels IMO..and bang 1/4 of a team VT add in APMD yourself that is half a team..

I drove from south burlington VT to worcester MA in 3 hours and 25 minutes this past weekend. I did not go over 72mph and stopped to pee once. If you took your time, it's a routine 4 hour drive.
I think the Cran and Capt. Lawrence dudes travel 4 hours for challenges. Maybe a VT team would be down?
How about Matt Albergheni? He was real good when I played lots of tournaments 6 or 7 years ago.

Team VT would be rad!!!

Alberghini has not been seen at a tournament in probably 4 years or so...He would be a great addition though. Work, kids, building houses, etc have gotten in the way from what I understand.

One thought that comes to mind is a combined Team NH/VT team. We would be called Team GMDGC! Most of the regular NH players are already a part of the GMDGC anyways. Roster would look something like this....
James Beaulieu
Ian Thurston
Chris Young
Dave Frothingham
Johnny Betts
Matt Idol
Anne Lewis
Jeff Spring
Seth McQuade
Dave Carter
Jon Moorer
James Sweat

If we can make it happen, you better look out suckaz!
