NEFA Tournament Evaluation
In an effort to improve the point series, we are encouraging players to use our new tournament evaluation form. After attending a NEFA tournament, we ask that you complete the form and give feedback to NEFA and the tournament director regarding the event. Please consider taking part in this survey, as the only way we can improve our events and enhance our membership, is by hearing from the membership.
A few guidelines to follow when submitting this form:
* Please only fill the form out if you attended the event. NEFA volunteers will be reviewing these submissions to confirm that you were at the event.
* Please include your first and last name on the form and your NEFA number as well.
* Please provide honest feedback. This information will be shared with the tournament director (submitter information will be removed prior to showing the TD the results).
As an added incentive to filling out the evaluation form, all submissions made by current NEFA members will have their name entered into a drawing for some disc golf swag (TBD). The drawing will take place at the end of season banquet.

NEFA Tournament Evaluation
this is a great idea.
Is the form passed out during the tournament or is their a digital version to be filled out online?
Who are the volunteers that will be reviewing the forms?

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
I have one suggestion, perhaps leaving a spot to explain after each rating in order to explain why you gave a a particular rating. The info is slightly irrelevant if there is no reason why specifically you gave say a negative rating for say was the TD able to provide a great experience. It would perhaps identify problems easier.

There is a free text area at the end to elaborate further on any answer previously given. We'll see how it works out in the beginning, and may use your suggestion if needed. Thanks for the info!

If you want to give feedback, feel free to send them a message. Hopefully, everyone will be using the online registration option forthcoming, so you won't have to worry about that.

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
Why bother to do this?
Why bother to host a NEFA event at all??
I have paid NEFA over $200.00 this year and have received squat in return.
NEFA is not holding up their end of the bargain and I am not happy.
NEFA tells me I have 48 hours to get them my results. I have done that.
I sent in my TD report for the Mt Kisco Ice Bowl almost two months ago. NEFA has not updated ANYTHING on their end. Where are the 2012 points standings??
HOW ABOUT AN EVALUATION OF NEFA???
So far they get a big fat "F"
The first thing NEFA can do to improve the point series is to post the results in a timely manner.

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
I think Nefa is currently looking for a new volunteer to input points/data for the series and then the volunteer will need to learn the system so there may be a slight delay this year in points updates..I think there has only been 2 nefa events of the season and in years past it usually updates per 4-6 events..depending on TD's submitting results in a timely fashion.
I think the idea of nefa just "wording" somewhere that point updates will be done so many times per year and not after every event(although IMO after every event should be a goal to strive for in future) will help with people assuming that is how it is done.
maybe say April,July,Sept,Then before finalz IDK justa thought

So mike we dont put in every results right when they come in. We usually wait for a few tourneys to post up the results. So im sorry for that. Titan is right we are looking to find some other server or forum to host our website. So once we find that we will be in the process of trying to figure this out.
But thank you for being quick with the results, alot of td's arent like you in getting the results posted.

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
Are the events out there PDGA events in addition to the local organization? If all events are PDGA, the posting of results is much easier. "Official" results still take a few weeks to get posted though.

They must have a great system in place that allows for them to update their results faster than we have figured out. Do you have an example club that we can contact to see what they do? We are looking into new ways of updating the system and it would help to have some guidance! Thanks in advance for helping.

Even with a "system" it still takes a person to do the work.
With or without a "system", taking 2 months to post an update is unacceptable.
I will do some research to see if I can help improve ours.

Michael, I played in both of your events this year. (Enjoyed both immensley BTW). I was in town for Kisco but in Vermont for FDR. I left at 4am and drove 4 hours to get down there. I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't NEFA. I'm doing the points series for the first time this year and I'm trying to get as many NEFA events in as possible. I'm just one guy in the tourney but if it wasn't NEFA you wouldn't have had my reg fee, hole sponsorship or donation to Westchester Food Bank...
That being said, I do check the site every goddamn day to see if the 2012 standings have been posted!

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
I might be way off here...but...why not have the TD input the data?
If they are given access to the program;input their own data;points are tabulated in a spreadsheet?;standings are updated;people are happy.
I know I wouldn't mind spening 30 minutes to input data after a tourney. Give us a week to get it in,or less.
The idea of one person doing it sounds like a lot of work!
Thanks to Dave who did it so well for so long!

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
One of the things that bothers me the most is that there are plenty of requirements for TDs. - 48 hours to get the spread sheet done - 7 days to pay NEFA the buck a player - but there are no requirements of NEFA to get the data back to the members. This makes me feel unrewarded for getting my job done on time.
NEFA can address this issue by setting a reasonable expectation of when we will see the results...
Updates every 3 or 4 months are not reasonable.
If you need a person to help, I will.

Unfortunately, under the current system, we are limited in who can assist in the efforts. Once we have a new site and new tools designed, it will be easier.

Re: NEFA Tournament Evaluation
It's been explained before on NEFA. The program is developed by Dave's company. He can only use it while at work on their system. He can't take it outside the company and nobody else can have access to it.
It's provided at a very low cost which is what NEFA needs due to having a very small budget.
Unless this reason has changed from when I was President,..this is the reason.

Sounds totally bogus to me.
How about a NEFA grant for NEFA upgrades?

That NEFA went for the quick easy fix and now they are screwed.
AND is it really that great of a "system"?

Considering the system it replaced was a single individual entering every event BY HAND into multiple Excel spreadsheets (files too large to email and thus too large to share duties), then copy/pasting the updated standings into an HTML document for display on the website, the automated database system that Dave hooked NEFA up with is absolutely a great system. That old system meant the points data person was spending HOURS per event updated the standings. When a TD delayed in getting his results in back then, that just meant the points data person had to wait around and maybe end up having to do two or three events at once to catch things up, which was completely unfair thing to do to a volunteer, hence the 48-hour requirement in the charter.
If there is a drawback to the way the database works now, it is that displaying the event results (the results linked from the tournament schedule, not the points standings) is tied to the points database. With the old "by-hand" points tabulation, the event results linked from the schedule were also "by-hand" html documents. Some of those were time consuming in converting the various formats in which they were received (plain text, word docs, excel docs, etc) into a table that appears nicely formatted and easy to read on the page. But their appearance on the site wasn't tied to the points being updated or even to the same person as the points. It was the webmaster (me for a long time) that did it that. It appears that the replacement for that individual effort has been a greater reliance on the TD or a volunteer posting the results on the discussion forum.
That seems to work for most folks, which makes sense since pretty much everything else runs through the discussion forum anyway. There was a time when to get info on a tournament, you'd find the flyer linked from the schedule. Now it seems if there isn't a thread about the tournament, no one pays any attention.
I'll echo others...bitching about it isn't going to change it. Offering a new solution might. If you don't have a solution, STFU.
