Davis Forest in Brooklyn CT has been approved for an 18 hole course. The property includes 126 acres with trails. We are in the process of acquiring the necessary funding and beginning stages of design.

Please contact me if you are interested/available to volunteer to help design and build the course.

Thanks.

Awesome! Southeast CT and RI are in need of courses so badly! Hopefully this course spreads like they have in the rest of CT and central MA and in 5 years they are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! :rambo:

Made some temporary tonal targets to experiment with the layout. Here's a pic (cost less than $10 per target)

Design day scheduled for tomorrow 4/20 at 10AM at Davis Forest. Going to setup some temporary targets and tees and try out some hole layouts for the front 9. Come on down if you want to participate in the course design. Davis Forest is located near the Brooklyn Country Club. Trail head is located at the end of Salmon drive.

Salmon drive is a new development which doesn't seem to show up yet on the maps. The golf course is on South Street in East Brooklyn.

Marked potential holes 1 through 5. Four seems a bit long according to the GPS tracks. Might have to move that one up a bit. :)
Map can be found here (Tracks and markers are clickable for more information):

How close is the walk to the next holes?
I think good disk golf courses don't have to long of a walk to the next hole.
That could just be me thou LOL.

So far the walk to each is pretty close. Might be deceiving on the map.

Another design day is scheduled for this Sunday 4/29 at 1pm.

I built the other temporary targets, so we plan to setup holes 6 through 9 and try the course. There is quite a bit of downed trees and brush to clean up, but it is playable for testing the design.

Bring your bug spray. The ticks and may flies were out last week.

I will be there with a few friends. I'll bring my tailgate grill so we can have some food as well.

Brought out the machete and cleaned up around the first two potential holes. Both are down hill left to right. Here's some pics:

Town approved funds for the 18 hole course, but the timber harvest has been postponed. We'll have to build it by hand.

Drop your discs and pick up some tools. Let's build it!

Planning & Zoning requested a site plan in order to give approval to start installation. Here's a draft document I put together. Please provide any feedback as I have not done a site plan before.

Looks good to me.
But Crushed stone for teepads? The pads with Stone always get so uneven you trip on the humps.
Pavers would be better.

I figured we'd let the course settle in a bit before determining more permanent tee pad materials. This will at least provide a good base at first. Also keeps the cost down for the initial roll out.

Looks great Mike, very professional.

The terrain out there is unreal. Can't wait to play this course.
