Pokerpalooza Reloaded - NEFA Points - June 16th

For more detailed information about the tournament itself, visit the Pokerpalooza website by clicking on the image above or by visiting http://www.pokerpalooza.us

In a nutshell, during the three years that Pokerpalooza ran (’06, ’07, ’08), it quickly became one of the the most highly sought after tournaments to play in. Touring pro’s Des and Jay Reading who played in the ’07 Pokerpalooza, called it one of the best run, most fun tournaments that they ever played in and even featured it in an article they did for PDGA’s Disc Golf World Magazine.

Pokerpalooza is the first leg of what will be a fundraising weekend for the Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust which is a regional not-for-profit land trust celebrating its twentieth year of conserving and protecting open space in Medfield and surrounding communities. The UCCLT and Norfolk Hunt Club have formed an alliance to keep open the many wonderful properties we mutually enjoy and to further the cause of land protection in our communities and since Pokerpalooza will take place at the Hunt Club in Medfield, it is a natural segway for the importance of preserving these beautiful open spaces. Your support of this disc golf weekend will help us to attain this goal. For more information about the UCCLT, please go to http://www.uppercharles.org.

Pokerpalooza will host a field of 90 players and will consist of two rounds of disc golf, along with an Invitational Texas Hold'em Tournament to be held after Pokerpalooza to players who qualify. There will also be some fun contests and games that will be held during the disc golf tournament itself as well as a pre-tournament tiki putter only-disc golf tournament for our sponsors on Thursday, June 14th.

Please consider blocking off the weekend so that you can come out and play on this unique piece of property which was seemingly made for disc golf. If you are able to to, we would certainly welcome your sponsorship and thank you for all of your support - entry into the tiki-tournament is well worth the price of sponsorship for those who are able.

Atta boy Matt, that's what I love to hear!! The tiki tournament is going to be on Thursday night Jeff so you could totally swing it  Spread the word, this is going to be huge!

Speaking of huge, let me take a moment to give a tremendous thank you to the snowbird himself, Norm Fitzgerald, for loaning us 18 baskets so that we can put this shindig together. Oh yeah, it's on 8-)

No need to stay up late, the link on the Pokerpalooza.us website for online registration will go live on May 16th at noontime ... set you're alarm, I'm assuming that registration will go quickly but I'm not sure with so many events on the 16th as Charlie points out.

So sorry about that Charlie ... I am working under restriction from the Hunt Club who owns the land that is hosting the return of Pokerpalooza. It's a gem, you may want to make an exception and come play, you will not be disappointed 8-)

Just checked out the Tiki Tournament spot on the website. Who is that awesome guy working the grill?

I will sponsor a hole as well to be sure I get into the Tiki. Do we have to wait on the sponsorship. I didn't see a way to pay now.

I'll take any hole,..doesn't matter

Sponsors, did someone mention sponsors? What a great segway, thanks Gary (by the way, you can come grill over at the house any time ... you were a man on a mission that day!!).

We're looking for 4 levels of sponsors in order to help us pull this all together and help raise money for the Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust ... a tournament sponsor, ace sponsors, birdie sponsors, and par sponsors.

You can find out what each level of sponsorship is about by visiting our sponsorship page here.

There you find my contact info. if you want to send sponsorships in via snail mail or you could always paypal me the sponsorship money as well.

All sponsors, no matter what level, gain entry to the sponsors tiki tournament on Thursday night, June 14th which is well worth the price of sponsorship just in food and beer alone ... oh and the great times as well!!

By the way Jeff, the hole is all yours ... that way, people can swear (or rejoice) when they miss (or make) this island green. Maybe I'll put a sign across the entire width of the corral just to remind players who they need to talk to after the tournament is all over

Might be one of those times I sponsor for the Thursday night but can't play the tournament due to the little one. Just let me know the details Rob.

That would be very cool of you indeed Erik. Details for the Tiki Tournament can be found here. Sometimes I don't know if I run tournaments so that I can have an excuse to host the tiki tournament or vica versa :)

Either way, as I've said before, the cost of sponsorship is covered and then some when you take into account that not only does the tiki tournament include a fun, challenging, putter only round or two of golf, but the barbecue cookout, beer on tap, and other extra's make it one hellava good time.

Thanks again Erik!!

That would be cool ...

No, unfortunately not Trenton however the Park and Recreation department that I have officially infiltrated for the past year and a half are supporting the 2nd half of this disc golf weekend (we're hosting a community day on the Hunt Club course for members of the community to come out and learn about disc golf on Sunday, June 17th) and are supporting the idea that one day, we will find the right piece of property here in Medfield for a course to exist.

Until then, once a year at the Hunt Club can/will do ... the board of the club have expressed an interest in making this an annual event if things go well.

Just a reminder that registration for Pokerpalooza Reloaded will open tomorrow (Wednesday, May 16th) at noon thanks to our good friends at NEFA.

Donations and sponsorships are rolling in as I type, lots of good items will be up for grabs at a raffle that will be held at the tournament along with our usual good times. Woo hoo!!
