Lost a prodigy D4 on the left side of hole 5. Should be just in the rough past all the hot mess that litters that side. Really like to get it back. All it says on the bottom is "zoro".

Panthorn discgolf will be hosting a trilogy challenge on Sunday 6/1.
30$ will get you three discs, one from dynamic, latitude and westside along with a bunch of other swag.
Format will be one round, winner take all. Players will only be allowed to use the three discs in the players pack.
After the challenge, for those who want to stay, we will be running a random doubles round $5 per player-$1 course fund-$1 ace pot. Optional 1$1$1$ could be available if players are interested.
A full write up will be available as the date gets closer on the tournament threads.

Park has one path plowed from the gate to the parking lot. That includes the sledding area, only one path for them as well. Width of my work truck. I just had the worst time trying to turn around. Looks like some 4x4's had there way with our lot. Road up to the lot is solid ice. Not shoveling today. I'll stop by again tomorrow and report back.

Abel is headed to the course for little workday. if anyone else is off, go give him a hand.
With the mountain of bark mulch in the parking lot, our plan is to spread that around the course.
Some tree work is in the works as is some general widening.
I'm building a couple bridges this weekend to help us over some wetter areas.
Registration for the trilogy challange will open on Monday. This is a great fundraiser for the course. Hoping to generate enough for a practice basket or some new full pads. So spread the word!

I am hoping to get around 40 players that'd replace the damaged basket on 6. The damaged basket will be used to create a putting area.
Work has already started. Abel spent a day just working 15 with his chainsaw. I restored the kiosk and built a bunch more bridges. I think Ditter did some digging and diverted some water. More chainsaw work is planned as is spreading that mountain of bark.
As far as redesigning the layout...doubt that will happen. The loop of five and lane's loop are unfortunately wet this time of year, but for the last 3 seasons has been bone dry after the winter thaw/spring rains. I can't see sacrificing the courses longer holes to install four 250' birdie holes....
For the most part the newer nine holes are well designed. The easiest (hole 7) feels much needed after grinding through the first 6 holes, and especially considering the two monster holes that follow it.
I know keeping the course layout discourages casual golfers, it's something I've learned to deal with, but I wouldn't want it to much easier. I feel panthorn is the toughest course in CT and it fills that need. Every course in CT provides something different, none are exactly the same, and that's for the better. If I want to shoot low scores to make myself feel good I'd play page...when I want to humble myself and remind myself that I have a long way to be considered good I'll play panthorn.

Well said.
Since today is Earth Day, I plan on hitting the course after work to honor the earth.

That is a misunderstanding of suggested layout changes as well as reasoning, but no worries i will not be bringing the subject up after this post.
After 8 years in the ground there is limited daily play and maybe a couple people that will work on the course, i thought this could be addressed.
Getting people out to play and thus out to care about and for the course is my goal. Obvious conflict with the goal of panthorn.
I love me some folks who work on courses, to each his own about how they choose to put in the work.

Please don't get me wrong laner...I appreciate all of your input and encourage it to continue.
I've had to come to grips with the fact that panthorn doesn't get loads of casual play, that events won't fill, that I'd be alone working the course more often then not, but what I have seen over the last 3 season is increased play and a gradually improving head count at league. I'm there almost everyday and am always pleasantly surprised that I am no longer the only one playing. It doesn't get wick and page numbers but people are there.
With a growing workforce I'm hoping to make the course better this year.

I most definitely hope you get the course where you want it to be, the more successful courses we have around here, the more examples we can use to sell disc golf to other towns.

While playing hole 18 tonight a deer walked out from the right side of the fairway while I was driving. He turned his head as the disc flew by and watched it travel up the fairway ( one of my better drives in a long time) after the disc landed he looked back at me for a beat or two, turned and walked away. It almost appeared like he gave me a head nod to say "good shoot man". Special night at the Thorn. Defended my 10 tag against the course, shot a 57 (muffed 2 short, almost always Makable putts)

Has anyone played this course since the last post was made before mine?
I went to the park and found the course to be gone, removed, no baskets, or tee's only some old markers, everything else has been removed.
