I'd gladly help with cleanup, however I have my step-daughters birthday party tomorrow.

I planned on being there, but turns out I have to work!
I wish it was easier to catch the litterers. I make it a point to leave the place a little better than I found it. Often I pick up trash that I find, and I never leave any. I don't golf with a lot of different people, but the ones I play with are similarly considerate.
I really hope that the situation improves! Not sure how to get the message to the jerks that leave their trash everywhere. I would bet the biggest culprits don't ever read this forum.

After hearing it from the rangers I asked Cathy to post something about the litter.
Its not the amount but the frequency of trash that gets them upset.
We are going to start emptying the barrells ourselves so they don't have to.
Also, no more beer cans/bottles inthe trash barrells. You brought it in, take it home!
This is easy to solve, let's do it!

I was there Friday, and it was ridiculous. We had room in our bags to pick up & carry about 6 empty Coors cans ... there was trash on like every hole ... and lots of the same KINDS of trash, which would seem to suggest it's only a small number of big offenders, rather than the reverse.

So I was there last night, and followed a trail of Sam Adams and some other beer brand I forgot, like it was a trail of bread crumbs. Every other hole there was a pair of empties, same brands every time. It never did lead us to the offender, but we did manage to throw a few out at hole 11 (right after I turned a near ace into a flubbed 15' putt for a 3

) ...
My brother suggested that an additional trash can on 5 might be a good thing, since it always seems we've collected our fill of litter by then, and because the teebox is right on a road.
I recognize the rangers don't need any more work to do though.
A little irritating to see such blatant litter on the day after the annual cleanup. Someone also permanent marker'd the #8 picnic table with the phrase "Assholez 4/15/11" or some ridiculous thing.
OH! btw, amazing work on new #9. I'll miss the old one, I admit, but I was blown away.

How's the course looking? 14 & 16 were underwater on Sunday. Anyone know if they're dry yet?

I have been pulling the 5 cent refunds from the cans for my sons AAU baseball team LOL.
I got stuck for fundraising so choose to collect cans no cost just profit.
And I get a game in the same time while dragging a bag and picking them from the ground.
Also someone left keys in the first hole drop off. At least they where in there this morning.

Steve, The course plays great, Les and I were there on Sunday. You are so right about the litter, we picked up some as we played. Have the same problem at Cross Farms, people are so inconsiderate, they just don't know how much it pisses off the parks and rec people.

Played West Thompson at 10am today. Played it at 6pm today. Between that time someone decided to cut down a tree on hole #3 with a chainsaw

. I was actually sick to my stomach when I saw that. I (and a lot of other people) put a lot of time and effort into the course and at this point it seems all for not. People don't respect things the way they should. If you want to play discgolf in a field then do so... At a park with an open field with a portable basket. Don't come to West Thompson and wreck our course. I know it is a weekend hacker that did that and will not even see this, but it must stop. I have been playing West Thompson regularly for 4 years and have seen the course get easier with each passing year and each trampled tree. I guess if on the short wooded holes you want to have an errant shot go deeper in the junk, then cut the trees on the edge of the fairway(40ft off the tee). That was the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen on a disc golf course. I know the majority of discgolfers respect nature and love to challenge ourselves. It is a walk in the park, throwing discs. No more, no less. If you want to be a good discgolfer, play the course. If you cant for the life of you get a 3(par) on a 190ft. hole, than do us all a favor and find something else to do. Or, maybe, try to play the course the way it is laid out and supposed to be played. KAZ's rant done. ENJOY!

When we were cleaning up after the hurricane on Wednesday we noticed someone had taken some choice trees and limbs with a saw and pole saw on hole 12 at Buff. They left all cut limbs and trees down on the fairway. I guess they were only concerned about the lane not the course. Maybe it's the same person.

Hey guys, I was down there yesterday (Monday) am, and I noticed that tree on three was down about 11 am... I just assumed it wss hurricane damage. Then Paul H played through and told us it was cut... anyway, for detective purposes I just wanted to let you know that tree was cut before 11 am...
sucks that kaz is right, and these punks probably aren't reading these posts, but everyone should stay alert and let the authorities know if anyone sees more nonsense like this.

That sucks. I have heard so many n00bs say just that kind of thing too, that they'd love to take a chainsaw to hole such and such ... but you never expect them to actually do it.
Hurts to hear that about Buff 12 too. I love the challenge of that hole especially. We're talking new 12 right, as in olde #20?
