Killington & GHDGO are in the system. Spreadsheet submitted for the Bob Burns Memorial was corrupt, so I've asked Greg to re-send.
Otherwise waiting on results from TDs for: Beauty Hill, Lincoln Peak, Streamside, and this past weekend's BDF Championships

killington results got fixed today. all of MPO and the top half of AM1 didn't have the NEFA #'s go into the system with the rest of the results - they were on the spreadsheet, but something obviously glitched out during the upload. Sorry 'bout that!
BDF, Blueberry Jam, and Bob Burns were entered into the system today. Beauty Hill, Lincoln, and Streamside still AWOL.

Let me know if there are any questions or concerns. I played with C. Mayone all weekend and J. Southwick on Saturday!

seriously.. if we are trying to promote the points series then it must be updated within a timely manner.. i understand that volunteers work hard to help out NEFA but a month without an update is a bit unexpected for a competition.. and when do we get more info for the finals?

I would estimate by recent final numbers anyone who is qualified will be able to play
Next year when the Finals is in MA and another year of growth may not be same story
how many last year JW? less then 72 even..?

I wish the Points System was run by a machine. But for right now we have to understand (no matter how hard it is) that it is still entered by a human. Can it be better? Sure it can.
Each year we slowly work on improving everything. I say slowly because it does happen slowly. I just want to say thank you to the human machine that enters all our events.
The Points updates are coming. If you have any interest in working on a improved system of entering etc please contact me outside this forum.
The finals are gonna be awesome. I hope you all enjoy the hard work that is being done to make that happen. See you at Beauty Hill!

Before this weekend there were 5 events to be entered. Newton, Lavalee, Buff, Hodges, and RI States. Today makes 3 more for a total of 8 in the backlog. The last NEFA points event on the calender is next weekend!
Why I should have to contact Dan outside of the forums, the only real communication tool NEFA has, to make suggestions... is beyond me. But if someone would PM me his phone number I will GLADLY make the phone call.
Here are my suggestions. Some have been made before.
1. train another volunteer to assist.
2. train a group of volunteers to assist and assign them tournaments throughout the year to update
3. Find someone else with the time and dedication to take over the points updates.

All good ideas Kyle. The biggest challenge is actually finding ready, willing and able volunteers...sounds cliche I know, but there's no denying it is a challenge.

I'm not taking a personal shot at you Kyle but there is some truth to what I will say.
Another person suggesting that NEFA find and train more volunteers,..without actually voulnteering themselves.

And thats a Bull$hit excuse Gary. There are plenty of people out there willing to volunteer their time to help solve this problem. Paul Sullivan offered right here on the forums. I bet he didnt even get a PM about it.
When the board gets off its duff, officially recognizes that this is a problem, and starts actively seeking volunteers to help...the volunteers will come. The problem is not lack of volunteers..it is lack of motivation by the powers that be to correct a long standing issue. We need to stop placating to the board and demand action. If they put out the call for help and no one answers...then I can accept that as an excuse...but not until. I, for one, will step up and do what I can.

We should have a permanent thread created for NEFA volunteerism on here...I think that would be a real good start. Rather than random postings of offers to help, lets get em all corralled into one easy to access permanent sticky thread. I personally think that there are certainly many issues that NEFA needs to improve upon..from communication to recruitment and I feel that we are certainly working towards making those improvements.
Working in a field that relies heavily on volunteerism, I can personally attest to the fact that getting ppl motivated to volunteer for something is a real challenge...always has been and probably always will be. Keeping a sustained volunteer base is even more challenging. I'm not stating this to be argumentative, just based on my own personal experiences where we have put the word out and still got very little interest in return...its just reality.
